If you’ve signed up for the newsletter you’ve gotten the free ebook, The 3 Keys To Making Your Writing Pay.
There really are only three secrets or keys to a well-paying successful freelance writing career. I list them often and still some writers look for an easier softer way.
I wish there were, but if there is, I don’t know what it is.
One way or another you’ve got to:
- Write
- Rewrite
- Market
I’ve been thinking about these three tips and how they work together. They remind me of the recycling symbol, the one with the three arrows chasing their tails.
Nothing happens if you don’t write, and I’ve yet to find a piece of writing that wouldn’t benefit from rewriting. And if you don’t market you’ve got nothing to write. Or if you’ve written, you won’t sell it without marketing.
Sure, there are times when you do more of one than the other, but over time I find they pretty much work out to be a third of my time is spent writing, a third rewriting and a third marketing.
However you do it, find a way to write, rewrite and market.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is needed to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% certain. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Actually, Marylyn, it isn’t that expensive. The domain name, hosting (I’m raving about bluehost these days – http://www.bluehost.com/track/mztiz -). I bought the Thesis theme, but you don’t need to buy a theme, there are plenty of free ones… I do my own graphics and as the site has grown occasionally hire a tech.
I’ll add this to the article idea list and do it soon. Thanks for asking.
Especially #3 — Market! That’s the one that’s making all the difference in the earnings of every writer I know.
