After years of listening to Garrison Keillor on the radio I am always surprised by how he looks. But what he says about writing is darn close to beautiful:
Do you get out often enough?
I get out of the house every day, but that’s for a lonely run in the cemetery, not quite what Keillor means, I fear.
It is one thing I miss in my transition from corporate whore to full-time writer: co-workers to dish with when things get tough – or just people in general.

When I first made the transition I wrote in a restaurant… today it would be a coffee shop. I think it’s still true that if you hang out regularly any place there are people, you’ll get to know the regulars and look at that – you’ve created your own water cooler effect.
Thank you for sharing that video. I don’t get out of the house much because, well, I’m writing most of the time or doing research. But maybe it’s something I need to think about more.
