Our Deepest Fear… Quotes To Inspire Writers

Quotes to inspire writersOur deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Although often attributed to Nelson Mandela who used it in his inagural speech, he was actually quoting Marianne Williamson

  • Anne, I love the quote. I believe we’re afraid of our strengths and often girls are taught to be in the background, when there’s so much each of us has to offer that it’s a waste to hang back and watch.
Wow! I’m on the same page with you, Kathleen. I’m in the midst of designing a West Coast Weekend Retreat series for women. The concept of the material will be delivered as a “pay it forward” retreat! What they learn will be information they can share with other women in their lives. Even the cost of the weekend will be paid forward to the next group. Does that make sense?

I di have a couple of fav. quotes:
“It is not the fact that you fall down, nor how fast you get up, but the fact that you do, in fact, get up.”

It is akin to ‘try, try again’ for me.

It reminds me too… rejection slips should not stop us from putting pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard.

I am also a big fan of “Pay It Forward.”

It is a choice and way of life.
