  • René Descartes went to an expensive French restaurant. After dinner, the waiter wheeled over the dessert cart and asked if he wanted anything for dessert. Descartes looked over the available pastries, etc., and said, “I think not.” Whereupon, he immediately disappeared.

  • This quote is so true. I’ve had jobs and other professions but writing has always been there. It colors the way I look at the world and think. I’ll find myself reading or watching a movie and thinking of other ways that the story could be written. While watching The Wizard of Oz last night I got to thinking about the red brick road that runs right next to the yellow brick road for a while and then takes off in the opposite direction. Seems to me there’s a story in there somewhere. But as usual, my writer’s mind has taken me off on another tangent…

I’m told that this watching we do through the filter of writing makes some nervous when they figure out what we do… suspect they are afraid we won’t write well of them when the truth is we won’t (probably) write of them at all.

  • Both excellent quotes. Thanks for sharing!

  • That’s an excellent quote about writing. As for my favorite quote: I think, therefore I am. 🙂

Thanks Walter – Descartes I think… well there I go, thinking again. 😉
