Computers are great… except when they aren’t!
My Windoz XP machine, which is maybe four years old, has been slowing down and acting oddly. I know a new machine is in order but I’ve really wanted to get to Windoz 7 and skip Vista altogether. The interim solution was a reformatting and a reinstall, so I found a geek who did just that.
You’d think I’d learn my lesson, considering how long I’ve been using these things. You know, the lesson of how much time it takes to get all the little stuff handled after a reformat, or when you buy a new machine.
I’m getting there, but as those of you who get the newsletter saw the results today – a truncated, not quite right looking newsletter because I lost my html editor and am having to find and learn a new one. Or maybe I’ll go to a template offered by my autoresponder company, but I’ll have to learn how to do that too!
Back in the early days of personal computers, before IBM co-opted that term, we used to speculate if our computers would ever become appliances, like a toaster or a refrigerator. Hasn’t happened, and probably won’t. This time at least I’ve finally started a list of what I want to work when I get a new machine.
Write well and often,
