Why You Don’t Land Freelance Writing Jobs

Deb Ng, who does such a great job over at Freelance Writing Jobs, has written an article called: 8 Reasons Why You’re Not Getting the High Paying Freelance Writing Jobs.

Like Deb, I get some email asking me not to post low paying jobs. In fact, I’ve written about it a bit. And like Deb I no longer rant against the low paying jobs, finally figuring out that you are perfectly capapble of deciding what your rate should be.

And like Deb I also get email from folks telling me they can’t seem to find any work from my list or any other list. Often the implication is the employers are wrong, which isn’t a very helpful attitude. That kind of email along with genuine questions about the best ways to find work led me to write the article How to Land a Writing Job. I’ve also started a subcategory of Freelance Writing Jobs Called How to get freelance writing jobs. This will be the third article in that section.

But back to Deb’s article. She accurately nails the major reasons would-be and newbie writers get few or no jobs when they apply. And the truth is, they wouldn’t be any more likely to get writing jobs if they were appling face-to-face.

The good news is that every single one of those 8 reasons can be corrected. It takes time, and it takes work, but it can be done.

Take a look and come back and tell us what you’re going to do to increase your chances of getting hired for freelance writing gigs next year.
