Why Paying Attention To Linkedin Groups Can Be A Good Idea

by Anne Wayman

Linkedin for freelance writersA lot of what goes on in Linkedin discussion groups makes me crazy. I unsubscribe in a hurry when things get negative.

I have found, however, that it is worthwhile spending some time finding groups that interest you.

For example, it won’t surprise anyone that I’m a member of the Ghostwriters Worldwide there.

Low and behold fellow member Claudia Suzanne, who owns Wambtac Communications and offers a ghostwriting certification, is looking for manuscripts for her students to evaluate. Here’s part of what her post says:

All submissions must be unpublished. No problem if they’ve been rejected numerous times: my students will figure out why and how to correct whatever problems you’re not seeing.

Please email me directly at claudia@wambtac.com. Thank you!

I think if I had a manuscript, particularly one that had been rejected several times, I might give this a try – knowing that the comments received might not be magic, but at least the readers would be focused.

If you give this a try I’d like to hear about it, good, bad or whatever.

LinkedIn is such a great resource for freelancers, and for all small business owners likely. I listen to a career advice show on satellite radio, & LinkedIn is always cited as being the Number 1 route for either finding work, or being found. It definitely pays to have that profile completed – I know I’ve made lots of really useful connections there so far.
