Okay. I know. Getting a rejection slip or email about a piece of writing you’ve done is no fun. None of us like it, and every single successful freelance writer has learned how to deal with rejection and keep on writing.
My theory is that you should celebrate rejection. Yes, celebrate!
Just think of what you’ve accomplished. You’ve written a piece or a query and gotten it in (e)mail.
Do you know how few people who say they want to be writers ever get that far? I’d guess maybe only 5 or 10 percent. That means you’re in the top percentile just because you actually got so far as to get a rejection. That’s worth if not a party, at least a long soak in the tub or dinner out don’t you think?
The post, Rejection – The First Step To Successful Freelance Writing, may help.
So crumble that rejection slip, throw it against the wall… maybe twice.
Now, take a deep breath, and post it where you can see it, congratulate yourself and get back to writing.
How do you handle rejection?
Write well and often,
