Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” for Writers – Friday Fun

in Way Off The Subject, Or Not

By Helen Chang (who actually thought I might not know who Lady Gaga is! Imagine that! – aw)

Have you had a “Bad Romance” a la Lady Gaga – with writing clients?

I have. It’s pretty sick.  Not sick as in great (if you’re under 30), but sick as in it sucks (if you’re over 30).

For those of you who don’t know anything about the hottest singer to land on earth since… Miley Cyrus… Britney Spears… J Lo… Madonna…you name it, you can listen to Bad Romance,   the Lady’s ear-popping song, while reading this translation  for freelance writers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrO4YZeyl0I):

Freelance writer:

Ya, I’m a freelance writer!

Oh, a great freelance writer!

Want your writing work!

I want your writing job, I’ll take it with glee

I want your project, but don’t expect it for free

I want your work

I want the drama of working long hours

To make a deadline come sun or bad showers

I want your work

(Chorus):

I want your project, I want your sales hook

You and me could write a best-selling book

Freelance writer:

I want to write your book and be a James Joyce,

Want to reach your target audience, using your voice

I want your work

Roma roma-ma
GaGa Oh la-la

Want your writing work!

When you’re desperate for clients, it’s easy to get into bed with bad clients – clients with bad personalities, bad messages, bad work ethics or bad pay.  Been there, done that. They’re not worth it.

Now, I only accept sick (as in great) clients, because I insist on having sick (as in great) romances. I have found that when you’re ready for Great Writing Romances, the perfect clients appear.

Hey, Helen,

What a riot! Gosh. You need to sing this and put it on Youtube like Grayson – isn’t that his name – did. Who knows…you too could end up on Ellen.

LOL…Great creative post! I love Lady Gaga because she’s so creative and free spirited! And, she seems to be authentic and enjoys being herself.
