Alternative News Sources 2 – Resource Roundup Tuesday

in Resource Roundup Tuesday

[tuesday]Last year I published a list of four alternative news sites.

Those links are still valid (and no one took me up on my request for conservative news links). Here are six additional alternative news sources I like:

  1. Google News Directory – not exactly alternative, but this directory will help you find all sorts of sources.
  2. BBC News is, of course, the British Broadcasting Corporation. It’s one way to find out what’s happening around the world and even in the U.S. from a different perspective.
  3. Al Jazeera is the English version of the Arabic-language news network. Again, there is real value in another persepctive.
  4. The Economist – another UK resource with an emphasis more on business – sort of. I always find something interesting here.

  5. I sometimes check the United Nations site. Their homepage has a news feed that’s often offers a different than mainstream media does.
  6. The Google News Directory also lists well over 100 news blogs. These can become a time sink, but a fascinating one.

Do you have a favorite alternative news source? Tell us about it.

Write well and often,

Anne

Hmm, I wouldn’t really consider the BBC, the Economist or al Jazeera alternative news sources. What makes you think they are? The BBC is no more an alternative news source than CNN or MSNBC.

Remember, I’m in America, so I have the typical, provincial American view. Although it’s easier now to hear BBC in the US that hasn’t always been true.

Anne, here are a couple of my favorite alternate news sources:

They are surprisingly well balanced, possibly more so than the BBC or Al Jazeera or The Economist. Oh, the irony!

Interesting, Jorge; both seem to be roughly what most of our newspapers have become… thanks
