Isn’t E.B. White just the greatest?
Thanks, Jorge.
If you’ve got a quote that’s special to you post it in comments and I’ll probably use it.

According to the August 09 issue of AARP magazine, this is Elmore Leonard’s favorite writing rule: “Try to leave out the part that readers tend to skip.”
I suspect E. B. White would like that one, too.

ah, I haven’t worked out in… oh never mind
Good one.
Thanks, Anne. I remember writing my first book, sitting in the living room, the TV on at the other end of the room, my wife rattling and crashing things in the kitchen, the kids making noise, while I cranked out page after page. I guess I can tune it out or something.

Funny how someone doing the dishes, etc. sounds what, six times as loud when you’re trying to write?
“Funny how someone doing the dishes, etc. sounds what, six times as loud when you’re trying to write?”
Then there’s the possibility that it was six times as loud because I was trying to write instead of helping with the dishes….
