Anne: I just wanted to say another THANKS for putting these listings together.
Recently, I left my “day job” to pursue a full-time career as a self-employed freelance book editor. It was a risky move on my part because while I’ve enjoyed many successes in writing and editing, which are my passion, these things have always had to take a back seat to the regular paycheck my office jobs earned for me. Since I took this financial plunge, I have spent hours a day scouring the internet to find editing jobs, and your listings have been one of the prime resources I have used. I have worked with some tremendously talented authors and publishing companies because of the listings I’ve found here.
So, THANKS! I’m trying to live my dream by working for myself as a freelance editor, and you have helped me get there thus far. My rates are always only 90 cents to $1 a page, so pass my name along wherever you can!
It’s so good to hear of your success, Autumn; glad to be a small part of it.
Hi Anne,
I just wanted to let you know I picked up a little gig from your list last Wednesday–some of those craft write-ups for education.com.
I’ve been taking the advice from some of your articles, and it’s starting to pay off. I’ve landed four jobs from my last ten queries, and even though three of them have been fairly small, I’m building up a reasonable resume. Thanks for your list and your blog.
Best,
Melissa
Melissa, that’s 40% an excellent number. Congratulations!
I am looking for legal freelance writing opportunities. I have been published. I can also write about the construction industry. I have a multi-disciplined background in civil engineering, law, public management, and urban planning.
Please send me any web links or leads where job requests are posted and are available for FREE. I tried Guru and was sent alot of translation job requests.
Hi Clovia – the leads we get we publish here on MWF. Don’t give up on Guru; something in your field may surface but I’ve found I can’t count on it. You might want to read Peter Bowerman’s Well-Fed Writer – http://www.aboutfreelancewriting.com/2009/10/the-well-fed-writer/ – with your specialties you could break into what he calls commercial writing fairly easily… and you could focus your marketing, the kind he describes, on your fields of expertise. Good luck.
