One of my favorite quotes from Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird: Some instructions on writing and life. It is also one of the best reasons I have found to keep on writing–to taste every bit of life.

The following words come from Oscar Wilde’s book, “The picture of Dorian Gray.” When Dorian Gray looked at his portrait and said, “If only the portrait would age and I would remain young, I would give everything–even my soul.”
