That headline is a bit misleading because Stephen Covey is not the first or only big name author to self-publish. But he is, I suspect, one of the biggest to avoid the trap of trying to hide the fact he’s self-publishing.
I got word through a tweet by Steve Weber (http://twitter.com/WeberBooks) who said:
Stephen Covey to self-publish self-help series http://bit.ly/vhSPk (maxim that self-pubbing is for losers hereby caput)
He’s talking about Covey’s newest, Predictable Results in Unpredictable Times, which at Amazon is only available for the Kindle at the moment. The announcement is in the Wall Street Journal, which is about as mainstream as you can get, or it used to be.
Weber, who is an author with an impressive group of books about marketing books. I need to catch up with him, and maybe you do too. I’ve ordered Plug Your Book and will review it for you down the road.
Covey is publishing under the his Franklin Covey brand – you can see FranklinCovey’s Catalogs Online. The book is there along with other great organizing tools.
Have you considered self-publishing?
Write well and often,

Thanks Anne. I just self published my poetry ebook “The Disappearance Of Hate” on http://www.scribd.com . What I like about it self publishing is there isn’t a waiting period. You can publish whenever your ready and receive more profits in the long run. Thought I would give it a try. But I’m waiting to see my results within a year.

And as you know, the work now is in the marketing! Congrats on getting it done… big step!
Hmm. Somebody recommended scribd.com to me a while ago. It seems worthy of a thread all its own. Marketing uploaded material (or material on a website) is also worth more a thread.
