I advise against applying to write for Examiner.com

The application process is quite lengthy.

At the end of it, one learns that Examiner.com does *not* issue a standard writer’s contract which would make it legally accountable for paying the writer for his/her work.

Examiner.com has frequently posted help-wanted ads with fraudulent claims about “Examiners” earnings. The bottom line is, the company pays according to its own whims. Because it issues no contract, were you ever not paid what you had been promised, you would have no means of taking Examiner.com to small claims court.

Examiner.com’s parent company, Clarity Media Group is owned by the extremely wealthy Philip Anschutz. In his own business dealings, he would never make a deal without “having it in writing” in a contract. He is playing his “Examiners” for fools.

Scott, thanks for the heads up.
Looks like they are a revenue share deal – http://www.examiner.com/assets/examinerfaq.html
When we spot their ads we’ll put them under ‘might be worth considering’
