You may wish to debate adding jobs from Demand Studios. Writers are applying, but there is a one-time review with no reason given for rejection. As it is a job bank, that may be an issue….

A writer is anyone who puts pen to paper, whether for enjoyment, artistic talent, creative outlet, volunteer work or pay. Paid writers, employed full time by one employer, might work for a newspaper, magazine, advertising business, or any other business which needs a full time writer on staff. A freelance writer is simply a writer who acts as a small business or independent contractor; he sets his own pace, seeks out his own work, and pays no one but himself.

Yeah, I’ve applied to Demand Studios in the past, got rejected, and wasn’t even able to apply again for about a year. I finally did it again when I had little else and changed the subjects I’d write about, figuring that was the issue, and got rejected again (no reason supplied). I see their ads everywhere; seems odd to advertise when plenty of experienced writers have applied and have not even been given a chance. Oh well. I’ve heard mixed reviews about writing for them anyway.

Jamais, I think DS must be looking for some very specific qualifications/background; however, they are throwing their net quite wide, which probably makes it difficult for them to offer much response. I got no response at all from them, even when I followed up with an e-mail. Their ads certainly make it sound like they are looking for any qualified writers (those with a degree or experience), but that’s obviously not the case. From the copy on their website and their ads, I was certain I’d be a good fit for them since I have eight years of experience as a freelancer and the clips to prove it. I was certainly surprised to get absolutely nothing back from them. I would guess that they’ve got some very specific critera, and with the economy so tough, I’m sure they have a ton of applicants.
