Right Livelihood – Quotes to Inspire Writers

in Quotes for writers

quotestiny

The first duty of a human being is to assume the right functional relationship to society — more briefly, to find your real job, and do it.

Charlotte Perkins Gilman

Found at Wisdom Quotes

I had to look  up. She was quite a lady. Writer, artist, social reformer and one of the first to write about post-partum depression.

Then, while thinking up a title I googled right livelihood and found the Right Livelihood Award. The list of their lauriates is truly impressive and delightful to me.

And now you know, if you hadn’t already guessed, why I call this category Quotes to Inspire Writers.

Write well and often,

Anne

Once I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time a remark is added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Is there any method you possibly can take away me from that service? Thanks!

Brad, I’m sorry. Yours is the first complaint. Can you go back and uncheck yourself?

You’re most welcome, Anne. Another of my favorites: “Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.” –Anton Chekhov

Which, for some reason, reminds me of yet another: “…Through the murk I saw the lights of Los Angeles spread out below me like a shattered bottle of muscatel glittering in the headlights of an ambulance….” –D. G. Satsuma, “Blue Steel Handyman”

Reminds me of another quotation: “The secret of success in life is to find out what you like to do and do it, and then find a way to get someone to pay you to do it.” — Richard J. Barker
