National Novel Writing Month Gets Grant Money

in Way Off The Subject, Or Not

nanowrimoOkay, so it’s mid-July, a long way from November. November, of course, is National Novel Writing Month. Chris Baty, who is part of the staff on NaNoWriMo (a volunteer I suspect) announced the other day that Amazon had awarded the organization $25,000 for both NaNoWriMo and Young Writers Program in 2009.

I know at least a couple of readers here have participated. If you’re new to the event, the goal is to write a novel in 30 days during the month of November. It’s worth thinking about if you’re a novel writer or just want to be.

I sign up regularly, and proceed to write nothing at all. Maybe this year will be different.

Are you going to be a NoNoWriMo participant this year?

Write well and often,

Anne

I’ll be participating in NaNoWriMo this year. I write best with outside deadlines.

Yes, NaNoWriMo is a wonderful opportunity to write “the book you’ve always wanted to write.” Have participated with NaNo three times and have enjoyed it each time..Looking forward to November!

That’s great to hear! I’ve successfully completed NaNoWriMo once (on the second edit of that manuscript now) and half completed it this past year. Looking forward to doing it again this November. It’s a great motivator to get writing.
