Mike McCallister who twits as workingwriter@twitter.com and blobs at Notes from the Metaverse pointed to 100 Awesome Open Source Tools for Writers, Journalists, and Bloggers which though way too long to plow through even on a Sunday is worth taking a look at and maybe bookmarking.
Yes, in fact, do book mark this one.

Spike! We have a mutual admiration society of two going
Rest assured: if I didn’t mean it, I wouldn’t say it. Far too many people only post if they disagree or want to complain/argue. I believe in also posting to say thanks. What can I say? My parents tried to teach me to be polite…

I agree with Spike, so THANKS, for another great resource, Anne!
Thanks for the link, Anne. I’ve posted a few more thoughts about this list of tools here.
Thanks for the addition Mike.
Thanks for the link. This indeed is one of the few good lists of this kind.
If anyone is interested in a list of more than 350 tools, especially for technical writers, you might perhaps also like to check out http://www.indoition.com/index.html. Not all the tools listed there are free or Open Source, but many of them are.
