1001 Ways to Market Your Book certainly isn’t the only book on book marketing, but it’s one of the best. It’s so good because it has so very many ideas about marketing your book. While it’s true every year that goes by without a new edition, the more ideas go out of date. That said, most of them still work and when you’ve got over 1000, a few lost to time every now and again doesn’t mean much.
In fact, there are so many ways to market a book it can be overwhelming at first. I started with the table of contents just get a sense of the way this book works. Ground yourself in the first three chapters, so you understand what marketing is all about and your place in the scheme of things.
Next, page through the rest of the book and see what strikes your fancy. The more often you do this the better, particularly in the beginning. The goal isn’t to try to do everything in the book, but find the gems that fit you and your book.
Kremer also runs BookMarket.com. It’s a gold mine too, but not a substitute for the book. It’s worth spending time with both.
