Hi! My name is Alissa and I am a freelance copyeditor and writer. For two years, I have been doing regular independent contract work for a company that has recently hit a dry spell, and I am scrambling to find part-time work to recoup my financial losses. I have two questions of my fellow freelancers:

1. Has anyone ever worked with Demand Studios, and if so, what was your experience? Are they legit? I have heard good and bad things . . .

2. I am somewhat uncomfortable with answering “blind” ads on Craig’s List and other job boards that include no information whatsoever about who is posting. Is this just the norm, or am I right to be wary of such “opportunities”?

Thanks for any advice!

-Alissa

Alissa,

I have worked for Demand Studios for over a month as a Title Proofer. This is proofreading article titles. They always pay on time, and I enjoy the work. For title proofing, the pay isn’t that great, but as I have become faster, I’ve been able to increase the pay. The availability of work can vary too. One day, there can be so much to do while the next day might not offer much. They have different jobs such as copyedting you might be interested in.

Alissa – I don’t think there’s too many problems with answering those type of adverts. Just make sure you get paid up front. Use paypal.

Alissa,

I have worked for Demand Studios as a “how-to” article writer for several months now and I enjoy working for them. They always pay on time once they’ve accepted your articles. Sometimes they have a lot of work, and sometimes they don’t have as much, but lately they’ve had hundreds of articles that need to be written :)

Good luck!

Sierra

Thanks you three for answering Alissa’s question. It’s good info for the rest of us too.
